Sweet Charity was founded in 1999 by a group of women working in business, the media and the arts and it has two main aims: - To create a relaxed environment where women can meet and network
- To raise money for a different, small, low profile charity each year

 The shortlist of 30 charities for the Guardian Charity Awards 2004 has been announced.
5 final winners will each be awarded with £5,000 from Sainsbury’s and a brand new PC from smartchange.
Final judging will take place in August and the winners will be announced at the prestigious award ceremony in October 2004.

Morgan Freeman, the internationally acclaimed actor in films including Shawshank Redemption and Driving Miss Daisy, praised the work of Cambridge-based charity, CAMFED, at the recent launch of their new website. CAMFED supports girls from extremely poor families in Ghana, Zambia and Zimbabwe to go to school. Many girls in these countries, and throughout the world, are forced to leave school as young as 10 years.
